Safehaven Public Ecovillage (SHPEV) is based on Dr. Glenn Kendall's Ph.D., Theological, and Education graduate school studies. These services fall under the auspices of the parent organization, Youthaven Public Ecovillage, Inc., a 501c3 federally approved organization established in 2017.
Whereas Youthaven Public Ecovillage, Inc., is centered on providing critical services to youths, SHPEV is organized to provide essential services to Arizona's challenged adults and indigenous people. The core of its benefits is to provide safe and enhanced living placements while staff ensures that clients are transported to and from their scheduled clinical, health, training, and related appointments.
Among Arizona's top ten causes of death, COVID-19 is third, chronic liver and cirrhosis is ninth, and suicide is significantly higher than homicide and is tenth—heart disease, which is linked to food, nutrition, and access to good medical care. Meanwhile, https://az.gov reports that Arizona has a high rate of alcohol death (3,670) compared to its population. The death rate from 2015 to 2019 increased by 40.92%! Equally important is that Arizona's children's poverty rate is the ninth worst in the country, with the problem more acute among Native Americans and Hispanics.
The unhoused issue (commonly known as homelessness) is another severe program in Arizona that has increased by 25% since 2020. Exasperating this problem further is the stunning increase in the shortage of affordable houses for families and individuals with incomes below the poverty level. that increased by 25% since 2020. 2. To provide staff with innovative insights for clients requiring mental health and behavioral services or to transform sobriety group homes into sustainable public ecovillages.
3. To honor the clients' culture and heritage is one of the strategies to restore the clients' dignity and integrity as they pursue their roads to healthy lifestyles and sober living.
